Thursday and Friday, October 2 and 3
Artists will be painting “en plein air” throughout the day at locations of their choice within the festival limits. The public is welcome to stop by and view paintings in progress.
Friday, October 3
5pm – 8pm Geneva Night Out: Artists will exhibit their work (available for purchase) in various businesses and venues in downtown Geneva
Saturday, October 4:
10 am – 12 pm “Paint-Off”: Along South Main Street, Pulteney Park, and Washington Street in Geneva. Participating artists will gather in one area to complete a painting in two hours. Some artists will concentrate on just one subject; however a few may do more than one painting during this time. Subjects can be anything from the unique architecture to townspeople, or close-up views of a single object. The public is welcome to stroll around the Paint-Off area, watch, and purchase the art. Families are encouraged to bring their young aspiring artists to see this exciting process take place. A new feature this year is a Student Division for the Paint-Off. There are two levels: college and high/middle school students. There is a $10 entry fee and students must provide their own materials. The student art work will also be judged, with each level awarded a cash First Prize. For more information on student participation email: jtoher08@gmail.com. 12 – 1 pm: Paint-Off Exhibit and Public Sale in Pulteney Park, judging and announcement of Paint-Off Winner. Rain location: Presbyterian Church, 24 Park Place in Geneva.
5 pm – 7:30 pm: Juried Competition and Gala Reception with Silent Auction at The Katherine D. Elliott Studio Arts Center, Kings Lane, Hobart and William Smith Campus. All guests will enjoy live music by Cool Club and light appetizers. Wine will be available at a cash bar. Tickets are $25, available at The Smith Center for The Arts or www.thesmith.org. Prizes will be awarded for First, Second, and Third place. There will be a People’s Choice Award voted on by the attendees to the reception. A Silent Auction will allow Gala attendees to bid on their favorite painting and take home an original work of art painted in the Finger Lakes.
Sunday, October 5:
12 – 4 pm: Public Exhibition and Art Sale at The Katherine D. Elliott Studio Arts Center, Kings Lane, Hobart and William Smith Campus, Geneva, NY. This event is free and open to the public.
