This autumn our lecture series takes a disturbing track with the theme “After Dark.” Our presenters will focus on the unmentionable, the unexplainable, and creepy, ghostly topics. In "Haunted Tales, Hoaxes, and Strange But True Stories of the Finger Lakes," Seneca County Historian Walt Gable will share some of the more peculiar stories of the Finger Lakes, including some found in his recent book, Historic Tales of Seneca County, New York. The area’s fascinating history includes ghostly hauntings and apparitions, a serial killer publicly hanged in Binghamton in 1871, the Seneca Lake sea monster, and the unfortunate burning of a traveling embalmed whale. Copies of Mr. Gable’s books will be available for purchase. Join us for a journey through some of the Finger Lake’s unusual moments with this program and book signing. For more information about this program or the lecture series call the Historical Society at 315-789-5151 or visit www.genevahistoricalsociety.com.
